Serving Board Care
A note on knife use on your board:
Please note that most of these boards are for serving / charcuterie / presentation. They will scratch if a knife or sharp object is used for cutting. That said, scratches can give your boards character so if you don’t mind, go for it.
The edge grain, butcher block boards are more suitable for cutting but, as with any wood cutting board, it will scratch as well.
Due to the craftsmanship, wood orientation, and laser engraving on the challah boards, knife use is not recommended. It is recommended that the challah boards are for serving and the challah should be torn and not cut. As previously stated, if you prefer a worn, used look, and don’t mind scratches, feel free to use a knife.
Serving board care:
These boards are NOT dishwasher safe. If cleaning is needed, use warm water and a drop of dish soap. To protect your board, periodically apply butcher block wax. With several washes, your board may begin to dull. It will require periodic application of food safe mineral oil. Simply rub the oil into the board with a rag or paper towel. Follow the mineral oil application with a light coating of the butcher block wax. I prefer Howards products, available at Lowes, Home Depot, and Amazon. Be sure to condition both sides of the board.
Returns:
Boards are not returnable. If you are unhappy with your purchase or suspect a defect in craftsmanship, please email me a detailed description of your concern along with a picture to twentyonewoodcraft@gmail.com.
A note on woods used:
The woods used in my boards are generally safe for food contact. As with all natural products that come in contact with food, it is possible that an individual may have sensitivity / reaction to a wood species. Allergic reactions / sensitivities are uncommon and are mostly related to inhaled sawdust, not to food contact. By purchasing and using one of my boards, please understand I cannot be held accountable for individual sensitivities to natural products.
